      Peren overview

      What Peren runs, who operates it, and where its boundaries are.

      Peren runs Cloudflare-style Workers and Durable Objects on infrastructure you control. A Worker handles events in a V8 isolate. A cell owns durable state for one routed object identity. A node is one running Peren process. A fleet is one or more nodes that share storage and peer identity.

      Use Peren when you want the Worker programming model, explicit provider choice, and recoverable state without depending on a hosted edge control plane. Choose another platform when the application only needs stateless HTTP functions, when another platform already owns your deployment and data boundaries, or when you need a Cloudflare API that Peren does not support.

      JavaScript and WebAssembly are the production runtime paths. TypeScript and other languages can feed those bundles through your own build, but Peren loads the configured Worker bundle, not a separate language runtime.
