Peren documentation
Plan upgrades
Check storage, then print an upgrade sequence without running it.
Check that the fleet file and bucket still work, then print the steps for replacing the Peren binary. Neither command upgrades the process for you.
Upgrade check
peren upgrade check peren.toml
peren upgrade check peren.toml --target 0.1.1
The check tests the configured bucket. On success it prints the current binary version, the target (the current version when you omit --target), that storage passed, and the configured service and socket counts:
upgrade check current=0.1.0 target=0.1.1 storage=true services=1 sockets=1
If the storage check fails, fix the bucket endpoint, credentials, or provider before you plan a production upgrade.
Upgrade plan
peren upgrade plan peren.toml --target 0.1.1
The plan reuses the check, then prints steps. It does not execute them:
upgrade plan current=0.1.0 target=0.1.1 steps=5
1. backup data directory
2. drain one node at a time
3. replace binary with target version
4. run conformance storage
5. run deploy health
Operator sequence
peren backup peren.toml --output ./backup-before-upgrade
peren upgrade check peren.toml --target 0.1.1
peren upgrade plan peren.toml --target 0.1.1
Carry out drain, binary replacement, storage conformance, and deploy health with the corresponding commands. Registry drain and live peer drain are different paths; see Drain a node.
