Glossary
Peren terms used across the public documentation.
Worker
Application code executed by the runtime. Peren loads the configured bundle into a V8 isolate and calls export default handlers such as fetch.
Cell
One routed stateful object instance with its own SQLite-backed state and owner. For the HTTP path in these docs, Peren derives the cell from the service name and the first path segment.
Node
One running Peren process participating in a fleet.
Fleet
One or more Peren nodes that share storage and peer identity.
Service
A configured Worker bundle and its bindings.
Binding
A named capability exposed to Worker code through its environment.
Provider
The storage, queue, or external service a binding uses.
Owner
The node currently authorised to commit state for a cell.
Operator
The person or automation responsible for configuring and running Peren.
Ownership epoch
The monotonically advancing value that fences stale owners. A node that holds an older epoch cannot commit new state for that cell.
Generation
A recorded version of a deployed service bundle. The record stores a digest and a percentage. The running process keeps serving the bundle it loaded at start.
Tenant
A customer or team named in the fleet file. Revoking a tenant writes a registry record. That write does not stop a running isolate.
